Original title in French: Comment déterminer facilement l’âge des buses [Buteo sp.] en vol

Summary in English:
The underwing pattern of the three European species of buzzards - Common (including Steppe), Rough-legged and Long-legged - permits the age of a flying bird to be determined. Adults show a broad and distinct black trailing edge to the wing whereas it is diffuse and greyish in juveniles. In good conditions, the black pupil can be seen to contrast with the pale iris in the juvenile, whereas the eye appears all dark in adults.
